What are some things that are worth (and not worth) spending money on?
Submitted by pinejar.
food. when i'm about to spend money on something that isn't a necessity, i think "how many meals at wendy's would this be?" that and books! but only if i have a 30% coupon for borders :) something i can't spend money on... getting my nails done. it just doesn't make sense to me because i don't care about my nails at all. i'd rather use that money to get some chili and chicken nuggets.
i finished my first amigurumi! he's a tiny sleepy cookie sandwich. probably an ice cream sandwich. YUM!
i got the pattern from Ana Paula's Amigurumi :)
i finished my blankie! it has a bunch of mistakes and it's super plain and i wanted to make a baby blue border around the whole thing but could only figure out how to get a border on the top and bottom so it's really uneven... but i'm still proud of myself! i've decided to donate it to warm woolies. i'll send it with my knitted quilt as soon as i finish it. which may not be for a long LONG while.
soooo i stupidly returned the book that i was using to make my knitted quilt back to the library before finishing the project. i needed something new to do while i waited for the book to become available again so i learned to crochet! i think crocheting is easier but i like the look of knitting more. i started a blankie using all half double stitches since i wanted to start easy.
What fruits and vegetables are in season where you live? Have you incorporated them into your recipes?
apples! i can't wait to go apple picking!!!! just the crisp air and the leaves (uh although today was almost 90 degrees and super humid. weird) ... my favorite time of year! hopefully i'll go picking next week to get started on my baking. last year i made apple oatmeal cookies and apple crumb muffins. this year i'm trying out an apple cheesecake bar recipe. hooray! my favorites to bake with? fuji and rome.
